AFL DRAFT PREPERATION
The AFL Draft is a special time in a footballer’s career, the time where you are only one step away from your AFL career. However, not every player that nominates for the draft will be drafted. In fact, each year some 300+ players will nominate for the draft and on average only 90 players will be selected. We will develop a personized plan to ensure your draft preparation separates you from the rest of the draft class. Ranging from first-hand AFL recruiter feedback to AFL combine preparation, we will leave no stone unturned to give you the best chance of being drafted. i50 has asked to go on this journey with you, and through our tailored approach, you will feel like an individual, not a statistic.
The AFL Players Association makes it mandatory for AFL players to only use Accredited Agents. Marty and John are not only qualified Accredited Agents, they are also highly accomplished in this area. Contract negotiation can be a lengthy yet delicate process and we pride ourselves on not only knowing the market value but knowing the needs our players. You can be assured we will work relentlessly to achieve the desired outcome. How your agent, best represents you in the market place is important, you can be confident that i50 has been at the forefront of long-term contract negotiations, free agency moves, highly publicised trade deals and creating the extra opportunity for our players to further their careers in the AFL. We put you first and work to achieve the right outcome for you and your career.
TRADING AND FREE AGENCY
Free agency and trading are common forms of player movement in major sporting codes around the world. While trading has been around for a long time in the AFL, free agency was introduced at the end of the 2012 season, giving players more freedom to move clubs and understand their value within the industry. With extensive experience and knowledge of the AFL market place, i50 has handled the trading of numerous players, as well as worked to ensure that free agency rules have benefited the player to maximise their playing opportunities at the right club. We work for the player, to ensure that the player’s welfare is taken into account as the priority, not the contract. More recently i50 has successfully facilitated the trades of Dion Prestia to the Richmond Football Club, Brian Lake to the Hawthorn Football Club and Michael Barlow to the Gold Coast Suns Football Club as some of the key work in the past few trade and free agency periods.

That’s why i50 has its very own in house tax agent and financial planner to maximise our athletes earning potential. We are across every aspect of our client’s financial requirements to ensure that we look to create a wealth network that should see the client benefit from receiving the right advice well beyond their planning career. We also offer an independent Buyers Advocacy to assist with housing purchases and investment opportunities – Australia wide.

We have successfully negotiated marketing contracts with brands such as KIA, Adidas, Nike, Asics, NAB Australia, Fosters Group and the AFL to name a few as well as Television Network contracts with Foxtel, Fox Footy and Channel Nine respectively.
WELFARE AND EDUCATION
The lead up to the draft and entering the AFL system can be an overwhelming experience, we get it – we have been in the same position. We offer a range of services in conjunction with the club and AFLPA to ensure your wellbeing is our number one priority. All dealings are conducted in the strictest confidence to ensure that your welfare is taken care of.
Helping you to be a well-rounded footballer is something we pride ourselves on. We strongly encourage you to educate yourself while in the AFL system and take advantage of all the opportunities that will present themselves. i50 will help you gain that life balance between on-field and off-field.
A professional footballer’s career can come to a halt at almost any point that’s why it’s important to look to the future and start planning for life after football. Along with making your transition into AFL football smooth, we also place a high emphasis on your transition out of football. Whether it is into a profession, uni studies, media or coaching we will ensure that you are best prepared to tackle the next phase in your life.
